Women's Basketball & Women's Soccer Elite Camps Announced

Auburn, ME – CM Athletics is excited to announce the Women's Basketball Elite Camp and the Women's Soccer Elite Camp, both to take place this August.  These newly established overnight camps are targeting high school girls basketball and soccer players, who are looking for intense skill training and to prepare their game for the college ranks.

The Women's Basketball Elite Camp will run from August 3rd through the 5th, and will include intense skill training, combine testing, an introduction to strength and conditioning, and off the court sessions.  This overnight camp is designed to prepare rising freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors to make a bigger impact on their high school team and to give them a glimpse of what it takes to play at the next level.  The camp will be limited to just 40 spots to ensure the highest amount of attention to each participant.

Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, on the elite camp, "We are extremely excited about providing this opportunity to some of the top players throughout Maine, New England, and beyond.  I've worked several Division 1 camps, from Navy to Notre Dame and others, and this is a concept that can be very successful here in our area.  This camp is for female athletes who want to be pushed out of their comfort zone and start or continue their steps towards being a college basketball player."

The Women's Soccer Elite Camp will run on August 4th and 5th.  This two-day overnight camp is for the player looking to play in college.   Rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors will have a combination of on-field and off-field sessions that will prepare the player for the expectations found in a college program.   On-field sessions will include a combination of technical and tactical play through drills and game situations that will teach players how to move and think within a college playing system.

Head Women's Soccer Coach, Rob Rodriguez, "This first year soccer camp is very likely going to grow into something much bigger over the next few years because it is an approach that no one else is taking in teaching these high school players specifically what they will need to know to step into any college level program."

Athletic Director, Dave Gonyea, "Promoting and managing camps, clinics, and tournaments has been a CM staple for years.  Our Elite Camps are just another way our coaching staff connects with some of the top players from Maine and beyond.  Both Coach Morong and Coach Rodrigues are recognized as two of the top coaches in their respective fields in our state.   I suspect the attendance for this camp will be competitive."
