CMCC - 2  EMCC - 1

On Saturday, September 10th the CMCC Mustangs travelled north to face Eastern Maine Community College. The first half provided scoring chances on both ends of the field. The most noticeable of which was a penalty kick awarded when Eric Murrin was fouled. Joey Scribellito stepped up and fired a good hard shot but it was saved by the Golden Eagle goalkeeper. In the closing seconds of the first half EMCC took advantage of a good corner kick and was awarded a seemingly controversial goal. Mustang goalkeeper Erik Tiner fell onto a bouncing ball alongside the goal just as the half time horn sounded. The center official then conferred with the linesman who confirmed that the ball had crossed the line completely before the half ended.

Using this as motivation CMCC came out firing and dominated the better part of the second half. With just a little more than one minute remaining in the game J.J. Musse scored the equalizer when he collected a throw in from Tony Blake. The first fifteen minute overtime period was again controlled by CMCC but none of the Mustangs could find the back of the net. With about 4 minutes left in the game J.J. Musse broke free again and was hauled down by the EMCC goalkeeper in the penalty area to prevent a goal. CMCC’s Joey Scribellito again stepped to the penalty spot and redeemed himself scoring with a well-placed ball. Mustang goalkeeper Erik Tiner stopped 24 shots and defenders William Wag Maiwan and Jeremy Remeika were all crucial pieces of the CMCC win.
