Mustangs do not break for Moose

AUGUSTA - Emily Sabine registered her first double-digit game of the season as Central Maine Community College wrapped up the No. 1 seed in the Yankee Small College Conference with a 79-53 drubbing of the University of Maine at Augusta on Tuesday.

Teira Durgin drained a team-high 13 points for the Mustangs (14-5) and Sara Martin buried three treys, finishing with 11 points. Katie Martin and Christy McAuliffe contributed eight points apiece.

Ashley Peaslee scored a game-high 21 points for the Moose while Katie Poirier added 12.

The Mustangs end conference play with a 13-1 record. The Yankee Conference Final Four will take place at CMCC Feb. 20-21.




Mustangs dismantle Blue Devils

AUBURN - Teira Durgin led the way with 19 points as Central Maine Community College dismantled Hesser College 74-45 in a Yankee Small College Conference tilt on Sunday.

The Mustangs (13-5) opened the game with an 11-4 run and led 40-16 at the break. Durgin, Kayla Ellis and Emily Sabine paced the defense and the Mustangs capitalized at the charity stripe going 15-for-19.

Katie Martin was strong on the boards, perfect from the line in six tries and finished with 16 points. Sara Martin added 14 with four treys while Alex Donald scored eight and Danielle Hebert chipped in five.

Alisha Bailey led the Blue Devils (7-16) with 19 points and Sharmaine Clement added 15.




Mustangs shear Black Sheep

AUBURN - Teira Durgin drained a game-high 20 points to lead Central Maine Community College in a 73-35 victory over Hampshire College of Amherst, Mass. on Saturday.

The Mustangs (12-5) surrendered the opening basket, answered with a 12-1 run and never looked back with all 12 members of the roster making it into the scoring column.

Christy McAuliffe and Katie Martin each poured in nine points, Alex Donald scored seven and Danielle Hebert added five.

Laray Brison paced the Black Sheep (5-8) with nine points and Alison Smartt added eight.




Mustangs roll over Eastern Maine

AUBURN - Teira Durgin scored 17 of her game-high 25 points in the second half as Central Maine Community College turned a one-point halftime advantage into a 69-52 Yankee Conference victory over Eastern Maine Community College on Wednesday.

The Mustangs (11-5) fell behind early in the second half, employed a pressure defense led by Durgin and Kayla
Ellis and frustrated the Golden Eagles on the offensive end.

Sara Martin and Alex Donald canned 11 points apiece for the Mustangs while Ellis, Carrie Hayden and Tiffany Lougee
each tallied five points.

Kara Scoville and Nicole Kaulback led the Golden Eagles with 11 points each Julia Nicholas added 10.




Mustangs ground Golden Eagles

BANGOR - Alex Donald led the way with 15 points, burying three from behind the arc, as Central Maine Community
College dispatched Eastern Maine Community College 57-49 in a Yankee Conference battle on Friday.

Donald's season-high effort helped the Mustangs (10-5) overcome a three-point deficit at the break and wear down the Golden Eagles with relentless, up tempo play on both ends of the court.

Sara Martin also buried three treys and finished with 14 points, Tiffany Lougee posted a season-best 12 points while Christy McAuliffe and Kayla Ellis added five apiece.

Kara Scoville led the Golden Eagles with 12 points and Julia Nicholas added 10.


Mustangs struggle against SMCC

AUBURN - Alyssa Sweet scored a game-high 23 points to lead Southern Maine Community College in a 71-61 Yankee Small College Conference victory over Central Maine Community College on Thursday.

Katie Martin led the Mustangs (9-5) with a season-high 18 points.

Sara Martin hit double figures for the 13th straight game with 10 points, Teira Durgin added nine and Christy McAuliffe scored eight.

Rachel DelCamp added 16 points for the Seawolves (11-7) while Darcy Webster registered 10.


Mustangs throttle Unity

AUBURN - Six Mustangs registered double figures led by Teira Durgin's game-high 26 points as Central Maine Community College posted a 95-27 Yankee Small College victory over Unity College on Tuesday.

The Mustangs led from the outset and never looked back, leading by 41 at the break and allowing just 10 points in the second half.

Sara Martin drained four treys for 12 points, Katie Martin also hit for 12 and Danielle Hebert, Carrie Hayden and Emiley Sabine scored 10 apiece.

Alex Donald added nine points while Shauna Fusco, Tiffany Lougee and Kayla Ellis led a potent attack on the defensive end.

Deidre Ousterhout led the Rams (0-14) with eight points and Ashley Crocker added five.


Mustangs trample Lynx

CONCORD, NH - Teira Durgin scored a game-high 16 points including four 3-pointers and pulled down six rebounds to lead Central Maine Community College in a 69-37 Yankee Small College Conference victory over New Hampshire Technical Institute on Friday.

The Mustangs (8-4) had 11 players in the scoring column and stifled the Lynx offense for the first six minutes of the game en route to a 41-18 halftime lead.

Sara Martin and Alex Donald each drained 10 points and a pair of treys for the Mustangs.

Danielle Hebert tallied nine points and seven boards, Kayla Ellis added six points and five steals and Christy McAuliffe registered five points and a game-high nine rebounds.

Jess Hardiman paced the Lynx (6-9) with nine points while Moriah Mahala and Ashley Harris added six apiece.

The Mustangs improve to 8-0 in conference play.




Lady Mustangs bag Moose

AUBURN - Sara Martin's 22 points led four Mustangs in double figures as Central Maine Community College dispatched the University of Maine at Augusta 88-50 in a Wednesday night Yankee Conference tilt at Kirk Hall Gymnasium.

The Mustangs (7-4) simply wore down the Moose by controlling the tempo of the game, keeping fresh legs on the floor and sinking nearly every offering to the basket.

Second semester acquisition Alex Donald made an immediate impact with a 16-point performance, including four treys. Teria Durgin registered 13 points and Katie Martin added 10.

Danielle Hebert, seven points, and Kayla Ellis, 5, paced the Mustang defense while Emiley Sabine provided a host of second and third opportunities with strong play underneath.




 Lady Mustangs fall to Islanders

AUBURN - Tatiana Hanlan's game-high 21 points led five Islanders in double figures as Jon Abbott College of Montreal edged Central Maine Community College 74-70 on Sunday.

The Mustangs sustained a 17-2 Islanders run in the first half, trailed 33-25 at the break and came back to tie the game at 41 midway through the second half.

Danielle Hebert sparked the Mustang comeback with 12 second half points.

Sara Martin paced the offense with a team-high 19 points including five 3-pointers. Katie Martin was seven-of-eight from the line and scored a season-high 15 points while Teira Durgin added eight.

Dayna Bassel registered 14 points for the Islanders (6-15) and Rita Sibo and Caitlin Singfield each scored 12.


Mustangs wear down Seawolves

SOUTH PORTLAND - Teira Durgin scored a team-high 14 points and hit four foul shots in the final 30 seconds to lead Central Maine Community College in a 60-55 Yankee Conference victory over intrastate rival Southern Maine Community College on Tuesday.

It was the fifth consecutive win for the Mustangs (6-2), who are now 6-0 in Conference play.

The Mustangs built a nine-point advantage at the break and saw the Seawolves (4-5) fight back to within a point with 30 seconds remaining in regulation. Durgin was fouled, sank both shots and put the Mustangs up by three.

With the Seawolves attempting to set up a potential game-tying shot, Durgin stole the ball, drew another foul and swished both chances to seal the win.

The Mustangs' Sara Martin hit double figures for the eight straight game with 11 points while Danielle Hebert and Kayla Ellis added nine apiece. Tiffany Lougee registered seven points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Rachel Del Camp paced the Seawolves offense with 20 points and Amanda Chandler added 12.




Four straight for Lady Mustangs

CONCORD, NH - Christy McAuliffe's season-high 16 points led four Central Maine Community College players in double figures as the Mustangs won their fourth consecutive game and remained unbeaten in the Yankee Small College Conference with a 78-55 victory over Hesser on Sunday.

The Mustangs press, led by Teira Durgin and Kayla Ellis, dictated the pace for nearly the entire game while Tiffany Lougee provided plenty of second chances off the glass.

Danielle Hebert and Ellis also hit season-high scoring marks for the Mustangs (6-2) with 15 and 13 points, respectively, while Sara Martin hit double figures for the seventh straight game with 13 points.

Quintina Young led the Blue Devils (2-3) with 16 points, Alisha Bailey added 15 and Whitney Hanks 11.


Durgin, Mustangs complete sweep

RANDOLPH CENTER, VT - Teira Durgin recorded her second straight double-double with a season-high 19 points and 11 steals as Central Maine Community College dispatched Vermont Tech 75-45 in a Yankee Small College Conference clash on Saturday.

The Mustangs complete the sweep of the Green Knights and remain unbeaten in the YSCC through four games.

The Mustangs (4-2) kept the Green Knights (0-4) at bay with a 39-22 halftime lead and never looked back.

Sara Martin buried four treys and finished with 13 points and six rebounds. Carrie Hayden and Christy McAuliffe each hit double figures for the first time this season with 10 points apiece.

Sophomore center Tiffany Lougee contributed with seven points and Danielle Hebert added six points and six rebounds.

Eliza Wakefield paced the Green Knights with a game-high 27 points and Kelly Velleck added eight.

The ladies gear up for three more YSCC road games versus Eastern Maine (Dec. 9), Hesser (Dec. 13) and Southern Maine (Dec. 15).




Mustangs run over Rams

UNITY - Teira Durgin dominated both ends of the court with 14 points and 12 steals to lead Central Maine Community College in a 92-15 rout over Unity in a Yankee Small College Conference matchup on Wednesday.

The Mustangs (3-2) led 53-10 at the break and received scoring contributions from all nine players led by Sara Martin's season-high 24 points.

Shauna Fusco and Katie Martin also hit double digits for the Mustangs with 10 points apiece while Kayla Ellis tallied eight points and five steals.

Carrie Hayden, Christy McAuliffe and Tiffany Lougee each hit for seven points and combined for 28 rebounds.

Andrea Miller led the Rams (0-4) with six points and Deidre Ousterhout added four.


Mustangs dominate Green Knights

AUBURN - Sara Matin matched her season-high 19 points and hit four treys as Central Maine Community College dominated Vermont Tech 87-26 in a Yankee Small College Conference matchup on Sunday.

After giving up the first basket of the game, the Mustangs (2-2) went on a 22-0 run and led 50-8 at the break.

The Green Knights (0-2) were undermanned and fell victim to early pressure by the Mustang defense.

Katie Martin drained 13 points for the Mustangs, Danielle Hebert hit for 12 and freshman forward Lindsey Henderson
had a breakout game off the bench with 11 points. Kayla Ellis was strong on both ends of the court with nine points, seven assists and six steals.

Jaime Allard and Eliza Wakefield each scored nine points for Vermont Tech.




Rhode Island CC 75, Central Maine CC 55

AUBURN - Teighlor Clare-Kearney drained a game-high 16 points to lead Rhode Island Community College in a 75-55 United States Collegiate Athletic Association win over Cental Maine Community College on Saturday.

The Mustangs (1-2) had difficulty getting anything going on the offensive end and trailed by 13 at the break.

Sara Martin paced the Mustang offense with 14 points, Teira Durgin poured in 11 and Katie Martin, Christy McAuliffe and Kayla Ellis added six points apiece. Carrie Hayden and Lindsay Henderson combined for nine points
off the bench.

Cassie Novicky added 14 points for the Knights (3-1) and Rajvi Jarvis added 10.




Sara Martin's 19 points, tough D pace ladies

AUBURN - Sara Martin torched the nets for a game-high 19 points as Central Maine Community College began their defense of the Yankee Conference title with a 67-51 win over New Hampshire Technical Institute on Thursday.

The Mustangs (1-1) opened up a 10 point advantage in the closing minutes of the first half and never looked back. Danielle Hebert was solid on both ends of the floor and finished with 10 points.

Teira Durgin and Kayla Ellis created havoc on the defensive end and each finished with nine points while Christy McAuliffe added eight and Katie Martin seven. Freshman Carrie Hayden was solid off the bench with five points.

Moriah Mahala led the Lynx (1-5) with 12 points Jess Hardiman added 11 and Ashley Harris scored 10.




Rams run away from Mustangs

AUBURN - Teronda Brown led four Navy Prep players in double figures with 13 points as the Rams spoiled the season opener for Central Maine Community College with a 60-44 victory on Saturday.

The Mustangs (0-1) came out strong on both ends of the floor, kept the Rams (1-0) off balance with full court pressure and built an eight point lead in the opening five minutes.

The Rams came back behind Brown's 10 first half points, led 31-26 at the break and held the Mustangs without a field goal for the first eight minutes of the second half.

Sara Martin paced the Mustang offense with 11 points, Tiffany Lougee added eight and Teira Durgin contributed seven. Carrie Hayden and Christy McAuliffe led the defensive effort.

Maressa Guynn and Alex Membreno each scored 12 points for the Rams and Kacey Liscomb added 11.
