USCAA National Tournament Wrap-up
The Lady Mustangs traveled to Uniontown, PA last week to
participate in the USCAA National Basketball Tournament. Seeded
16th, the Mustangs were matched up against #1, and annual
powerhouse, Rochester College from Michigan. Our team was down by
only 14 points at the half but couldn't contain the hot shooting of
Rochester and lost the game by a score of 79-39.
In game two, the Mustangs were matched up against number eight seed
Robert Morris University from Springfield, Ill. They played their
best ball of the tournament in the first half and headed to the
locker room down by only four points. However, fatigue was a factor
in the second half and the squad dropped a 74-50 decision.
Let me say that I am very proud of our Lady Mustangs and their
coaching staff for a great season and a spirited run at the
nationals. They may have been outplayed and outscored but they were
never “outclassed.” In typical CMCC fashion the
athletes played hard until the last whistle and never gave an inch.
To Kayla and Tierra - thank you for your years of commitment and
dedication to our program. You are what every CMCC player should
aspire to! To Coach Morong and his staff - great job leading this
team, and thank you!
