Baseball Wins Game 2 of Double Header

Auburn, ME - Matthew Tremble's walk-off hit into a fielder's choice off of Charlie Hallak boosted Central Maine Mustangs to an 11-10 win over SMCC on Thursday.  The two teams combined for 21 runs and 20 hits, including six extra base hits.

Matthew Tremble paced Central Maine at the plate. Matthew Tremble went 1-3 and drove in one. He doubled in the second inning.  Mike Muise reached base five times. He scored three runs and had two RBIs. He homered in the first inning and singled in the third and ninth innings.

Evan Roberts got the win for the Mustangs. He tossed two innings of shutout ball. Roberts struck out four, walked one and gave up no hits.

Hallak took the loss for SMCC. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked six, struck out five, and allowed three runs.

The bottom of the first saw the Mustangs take an early lead, 2-0. Alex Biron got things going for Central Maine with a double. A groundout by Brandon Varney then moved Biron from second to third. Muise homered, scoring Biron.

SMCC brought home one run in the second inning, and matched that run total in the Fifth. In the second, SMCC scored on a groundout by Tucker Lee, plating Caleb Chambers.  Central Maine quickly matched SMCC's strong inning with a three-run inning of its own in the second. Central Maine scored on a two-run single by Varney and a fielder's choice.

SMCC got four-run rallies in the fourth inning and the Seventh. In the fourth, SMCC scored when Jakob Latini drew a bases loaded walk, scoring Chambers.  Central Maine survived SMCC's surge and put up two runs of its own in the fifth. Central the Mustangs scored on a two-run single by Alec Collins.
