Auburn, ME - The Mustangs got back to their winning ways on Saturday to the tune of a 2-game sweep of Great Bay CC in Yankee Conference action. With the 2 wins, CM improves to 4-8 overall this fall.
Game 1
Despite 4 errors, the Mustangs jumped out to an 8-1 lead through 3 innings, and cruised to the 8-3 victory over the Herons. Jordi Valls and Tanner Wheeler led the way for the Mustangs with 2 htis a piece. Valls, Zachary Mann, and Elijah Grizzard-Brown each knocked in a run, while Wheeler and Matthew Tremble had 2 RBI each.
Wheeler also struck out 6, only giving up 1 earned run, in 5 innings on the mound.
Game 2
This time the Mustangs had to come from behind to cage the Herons, scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to sneak away with the win. Great Bay hung on to a 4-2 lead through 4 innings, but lost their grip in the late innings. The Mustangs had to overcome 3 more errors in the field, but did so by pounding 13 hits, including a homerun by Tanner Wheeler. Wheeler went 2-4 with 4 RBIs, while Alex Biron (2-4), Jordi Valls (3-4), Matthew Tremble (2-3), and Zachary Mann (3-4) all had multiple hits.
Noah Salmons got the win on the pound, pitching 5 innings with 4 hits allowed and 3 earned runs.
