Mustangs Stymied by BA

Bridgton, ME - On the road in the second game of the home and home series, the Mustangs had trouble keeping up with the Bridgton Academy Wolverines losing 17-4 on Wednesday.

Bridgton got on the board in the first inning when Joey Barret's sacifice fly scored one run.

The Wolverines pulled away for good with 12 runs in the third inning.  Barret singled on a 3-0 count, scoring one run, James Dolan singled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs, Corey Franssica singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, Billy Blackett drew a walk, scoring one run, Drake Goupil induced Connor Kircy to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored,  Jake Rainess doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Barret doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run, Dolan singled on a 2-0 count, scoring three runs, and Blackett singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.   

Kaden Cutler toed the rubber in the start for CM.  He went two innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out one and walking one.  Jacob StroutNick Powers, and Goupil each contributed in relief for the Mustangs. Eric Hoogterp went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Central Maine in hits. CM Jordi Valls contributed to the offensive effort with a hit and an RBI, and Strout pitched in with a sacrifice fly.  Cutler scored the Mustangs fourth run with some aggressive baserunning, scoring on a wild pitch. Bridgton Academy racked up 18 hits in the game. Dolan, Camren King, Andrew Divincenzo, Blackett, and Barret, all managed multiple hits for the Wolverines.  Dolan led Bridgton with four hits in four at bats.

The Mustangs take on conference rival SMCC on Thursday at 4:30 in South Portland.
