Mustangs Split Weekend Series with NHTI

Auburn, ME -   In game one, the Lynx erased a four-run deficit in the fourth and didn't look back in route to a 13-7 victory over the home team.

Central Maine opened up scoring in the first inning when Eric Hoogterp doubled to score Nick PowersKaden Cutler singled on a 1-1 count, scoring Hoogterp and Jordi Valls. NHTI Lynx took the lead for good with five runs in the fourth inning. Dan Schesser and Garrett Purrington both drew run-scoring walks, and William Ellis doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring three runs.

Tyler Sargent was on the mound for NHTI Lynx. He allowed ten hits and seven runs over seven innings, striking out eight.

Cutler started the game for the Mustangs. He lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and seven runs while striking out one. Powers and Dalton Wing entered the game as relief, throwing two innings and one and one-third innings respectively.

Central Maine collected ten hits. Valls and Austin Love each collected multiple hits to lead the Mustang offense.

Schesser and James Cardello collected multiple hits for NHTI.

 

In game two, the Mustangs took advantage of some Lynx mishaps in the first inning, jumping ahead to a 6-0 advantage. The first four hitters reached base before Jordi Valls singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.  A few bloopers fell in behind second following the base knock and with some aggressive baser running the Mustangs ended the frame with a sizable lead.

NHTI scored three runs in the second inning. William Ellis and Taylor each had RBIs in the frame.

Nik Tormans took the win for Central Maine.  He allowed three hits and two runs over two innings, striking out two and walking one. Valls threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Adam Young took the loss for the Lynx. He surrendered seven runs on two hits over two and a third innings, striking out one and walking zero. Jared Rubin started the game for the Mustangs. He lasted four innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while walking one.

Central Maine tallied ten hits in the game. Tormans, Nicholis L'Hereux-Carland, and Cody Dollof each had multiple hits. Tormans headlined the offense, going 3-for-4 at the plate.
