Mustangs Name Rolfe as Baseball Coach

Auburn, ME – Central Maine Community College Athletic Department, Dave Gonyea, is pleased to announce Brandon Rolfe, former Hebron Academy and Thomas College baseball player, has been hired to be the next head baseball coach at CM.

Rolfe has an extensive baseball resume. After successful years at Hebron Academy, he played for Coach King at Thomas College. Focusing on his major, sports management, Rolfe worked for both the minor and major league baseball teams, Bowie Baysox, and the Washington Nationals. He served in a variety of capacities with both franchises.

Rolfe added to the story, "I am very excited to be joining the CM Mustang family. This job is a terrific opportunity, and I look forward to the challenge of building this program and establishing a culture of success. This is the beginning of a new era for CMCC Athletics with the construction of a brand new facility for baseball, as well as soccer and softball, which will have an immediate impact on the student-athlete community. Having already celebrated two National Championships on campus in the last five years, and the overall success of other programs, there is definitely an athletic "buzz" on campus. There is a wealth of baseball talent in Maine, as well as the rest of New England, and the growing emphasis on a more affordable education that community colleges provide will be key in our recruiting. I would like to thank Athletic Director Dave Gonyea for having confidence in my abilities and giving me the opportunity to lead a new era of Mustang Baseball."

CM athletic director, Dave Gonyea states, "We had over 55 resumes to comb through and Brandon stood out in terms of depth of knowledge and hands on experience dealing with all aspects of baseball. Most people think it is all about simply coaching the kids up and winning games. Coaching in college is such a different animal. I would go so far to say recruiting is 70% of coaching, 20% is managing, and the other 10% is about what goes on the field.  With the unveiling of our new facility in aabout a month, I feel Coach Rolfe has the skill set needed and is the perfect person to lead our baseball program."
