Baseball takes another Loss to SMCC

South Portland, ME - The Central Maine Community College (CMCC) Mustangs traveled to South Portland on Wednesday afternoon for a 9-inning affair and took another 2019 fall loss to conference rival Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) 10-2.

With the game scoreless through an inning and a half, the Seawolves struck first with two runs in the bottom of the second to jump ahead 2-0. The Mustangs answered with two of their own in the top of the third inning, but a five-run fourth inning by the Seawolves put them ahead with a lead they would not relinquish.

The CM offense was led by freshman first baseman Reid Cote (Wales, ME) who was responsible for nearly half of the team's total hits going 3 for 4 with a double, and who's two RBI would be the only runs on the board for the Mustangs.

Freshman Cameron Godbois (Rumford, ME) pitched 4 innings in the loss, giving up 7 runs on only 4 hits with 3 of those runs earned. Godbois also struck out 4 while allowing 7 walks. Freshman Reid Cote tossed two innings in middle relief giving up 1 run on 1 hit striking out 3. Sophomore captain Jordi Valls finished the game on the mound in the final two innings of relief, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits and recording a strikeout.

The Mustangs will host Bridgton Academy in non-conference exhibition play on Thursday, September 26th at 6pm.
