Concord, NH - A well spread out offensive effort and commanding pitching performance moves the Central Maine Community College (CMCC) Mustangs past the New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) Lynx 13-2 on Saturday.

As the Mustangs began down 1-0 after two innings, the offense came alive and continued to produce, taking advantage of two defensive errors to take a 2-1 lead. The Lynx scored one of their own in the bottom of the third, but a Nick Powers (Lewiston, ME) RBI single brought the score to 3-2. RBI doubles by Zach Mann (Gray, ME) and Jordi Valls (Guatemala City, Guatemala) in the fifth inning gave the Mustangs a 4-run cushion as a Corey Armstrong (Monmouth, ME) triple to start the seventh would advance the CMCC lead to 9-2. With continuous shutout pitching capped off by a 2 RBI base hit by Avery Howell (Newport,ME) in the top of the ninth, the Mustangs would leave Concord on top with a 13-2 final.

The offensive dominance was led by Sophomore Nick Powers, who ended his day 3 for 3 with 1 RBI and 3 runs. Catcher Corey Armstrong also saw a 2 for 4 day at the plate with 2 RBI and 3 runs. Freshman Reid Cote (Wales, ME) also scored 2 runs in a 2 for 4 day.

Freshman William Bean (Milton Township, ME) picks up his second win of the fall bringing his record to 2-1. The Rumford native gave up two runs on just three hits over seven innings. Sophomore Jordi Valls threw the final two innings to close out the game, allowing only one hit with one strikeout.

The Mustangs next games will be on the road at the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Sunday 9/29. These two fall exhibition match-ups against the Owls will be the only fall meetings between these two teams, with first pitches scheduled for 1pm and 3pm.
