Mustangs Sprint Past Tommies

Mustangs Sprint Past Tommies

For the second day in a row, CM used full court pressure to wear down the visitors sending the St. Thomas University Tommies home with an 80-56 defeat.

The Mustangs retreated to the locker room with a 41-29 lead at halftime after shooting 48.5% from the floor in the half.  Led by the "Virginian's" Preston Isner (8 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals) and Xavier Colbert (12 points), CM poured it on in the second half eventually putting the game out of reach.  Stellar defensive performances by ten different Mustangs including big man Jimmy Pena shut down the Tommies inside attack.

The Mustangs had 4 players finish in double figures; Colbert, Carrington Miller, Kazre Cummings, and Jalen Lincoln.

With the win, CM improves it's record to 2-0 for the young season - winning both games in the Can-Am Tournament.  The Mustangs will be back in action on Tuesday night when they host Class Acts for an exhibition game at 7:00pm.
