Luis Medina recorded a double-double tonight as CM took off to an early lead and never looked back as the Mustangs picked up an important road win beating the University of Maine at Machias 87-66. Luis recorded 14 points, 10 assists and added 9 rebounds. Shaun Hill came off the bench and led all scorers with 23 points.
Despite a four hour drive and playing in a hostile atmosphere, CM came out of the gates and held Machias scoreless for the first six minutes of the game and led 9-0. Waves of defensive rotations were the norm the entire game and CM took a 45-23 lead into the locker room at halftime. The second half was more of the same but the Clippers cut the lead to 13 at the 9 minute mark. Within the next two minutes, a huge Medina three and a Medina to Shaun Hill ally-oop layup put the Mustangs up again and seemed to take the wind of out of the Clippers sails.
With the win CM remains undefeated at 11-0 overall and 6-0 in the YSCC. The Mustangs host Hampshrie College at 3:00pm on Sunday.
