Mustangs slip past Clippers

Xavier Colbert (Manassas, VA) led the charge for CM tonight hitting for 20 points, dishing out 6 assists, and bringing down 7 rebounds as the Mustangs slipped by the UMaine-Machias Clippers 91-88.

CM managed to maintain a 4-10 point lead throughout the middle of the first half and went to the locker room up 46-43.  The game was controlled by CM until the 8 minute mark when the Clippers took a 1 point lead 79-78.

Kazre Cummings (Providence, RI) and Carrington Miller (Bingham, ME) hit back to back shots to put the Mustangs back on top 82-79.  The Clippers tied the game with 4 minutes left to set up a showdown in the last four minutes.  Four Josh Thomas (Lewiston, ME) free throws and heady defense allowed the Mustangs to come away with the victory.    Miller added 19 points and 11 rebounds, Cummings hit for 12 points and hauled down 12 boards.  Preston Isner (Bealeton, VA) chipped in 14 points in a stellar defensive performance.

CM increases its overall record to 9-5 and Yankee Conference record to 5-0 on the season.  Rival SMCC visits cozy Kirk Hall Thursday for a match-up of the Yankee front runners.  Game time is 8pm.
