Mustangs slip past Moose

Basketball is a game of runs.  CM went on one of those runs at the nine minute mark in the second half to erase a 15-point deficit with an 18-4 run to close out the UMA Moose, 100-95 in Auburn.

Carrington Miller (Bingham, ME) dominated the paint all night registering 22 points and 14 rebounds to lead four Mustangs in double figures in the scoring column.  The Moose put up a fight all night long only trailing at the break 53-48.  However the tide turned early in the second half when the Moose went on a 13-2 run to take the lead.

CM used multiple players attempting to wear down the visitors and chip into the lead.  Forty minutes of full court pressure started to take its toll on UMA.   Two key Raymond Monroe (Cranston, RI) three's in the last four minutes pushed the Mustangs over the top.  Monroe followed up Millers numbers with 17 points and 5 rebounds while Xavier Colbert (Manassas, VA) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists.

Brandon Rogers carried the Moose hitting for 29 points and hauling down 28 rebounds.

With the win, CM improves to 11-7 on the year and 7-2 in the Yankee Conference.  The Mustangs travel to the University of Maine at Machias Sunday and return home Tuesday to host EMCC.
