Gonyea recognized by USCAA

Pittsburgh, PA - Athletic Director and Head Men's Basketball Coach, Dave Gonyea, was presented with the USCAA Career Achievement Award this week at the USCAA National Convention in Pittsburgh, PA.  Gonyea, who has been the foundation of CMCC Athletics for over the last 20 years, has served the USCAA as President, and most recently on their Board of Directors.

USCAA Chief Operating Officer, Matthew Simms, during the presentation, "Finally, we recognize one additional Board of Director Appreciation recipient.  However, this particular recipient's recognition extends beyond his more than ten years of service to the Board and as the association President.  This individual was with this organization before it was the USCAA.  And seeing the National Small College Athletic Association begin to crumble was one of a handful of men to take the charge to keep it alive.  He called upon as many members as possible to stay and reorganize this association as the USCAA.  Moving forward he was an outstanding leader, working to establish a national office that provided services to the member institutions and put forth first class national championship experiences.  Ladies and Gentlemen, Dave Gonyea is the cornerstone to this organization.  This year he leaves the Board of Directors after serving more than a decade worth of service.  He is an outstanding coach, board member, and leader and he will be severely missed.  Because of his service above and beyond to keep this organization alive and make it what it is today, we recognize Dave Gonyea with the USCAA Career Achievement Award."

According to Gonyea, "I am beyond honored and humbled by this recognition.  It has been an absolute pleasure serving the USCAA over the last decade plus.  Watching it grow in membership and the services and opportunities it provides is something we should all take a lot of pride in.  A lot of people are putting in a lot of hard work, and I'm excited about the future of this fantastic league."
