Mustangs secure Australian forward

Auburn, ME - Men's basketball moves into new territory.  Two weeks after landing Canadian guard, Danny Judd, the Mustangs receieve a commitment from Australian forward, Pietro Badalassi.

The 6'4" forward from Canberra, Australia was a four year starter for the Marist College basketball team (high school) and served as captain his senior year.  He was the squads MVP and top scorer for the season on 3 different occasions.   He participated in a variety of all-star and post season games representing his schoo

According to CM Men's Coach Dave Gonyea "I am very pleased Pietro is trekking across the big pond to come to Maine.  Not only are his basketball skills well defined, his personality will fit in to our culture at CM. He uses his body well on the court, shoots it pretty good and is not afraid to rebound."

According to Pietro, "I chose Central Maine because I have always wanted to play college basketball in America. There appears to be a good balance between basketball and study, and the sports facilities look excellent.  Coach Gonyea has had a big influence on my decision, as he has been very interested in me since we started talking. Lots of training, a long season, gym on campus and seeing some snow appeals to me! I feel that CM will assist in me reaching the next level of college basketball. I look forward to arriving on campus and meeting the team."
