CM Lands Top Transfer Recruit

Auburn, ME- CM Men's Basketball Coach, Dave Gonyea, is pleased to announce Quinn Mitchell, a Meriden, Connecticut native and a 2016 graduate of Dean College will transfer to CM this fall to play basketball.  Mitchell graduated from Vinal Technical High School in Meriden, in 2014.  He is extending his education at CM and will look to transfer after a year to complete his Bachelor's degree.

As a student at Vinal Technical High School, Quinn was a member of the National Honor Society and achieved high honors his junior and senior years.

On the court, Quinn averaged 21 points per game his senior year (7th in the state for scoring in 2014), was a second team All-Conference player and a McDonald's Scholar Athlete for the state of Connecticut.   He was nominated into the Middletown Sports Hall of Fame.

Quin responded to the questions below:

CM: Why did you choose CM?
Quinn: I chose CM because I figured that it would be the best fit to grow in the classroom and on the basketball court, and Coach Gonyea seems to be on the same page as me in terms of keeping the team in the right direction.

CM: What did you like most about the campus?
Quinn: It's a small campus which makes it easier for me to get around and I have a lot of access to the facilities. Also the classrooms are small which is good because professors can interact with students which is beneficial.

CM: How do you think playing college basketball will differ from your previous experience?
Quinn:  Being a transfer I already have some experience playing college basketball but I look forward into developing even more.

CM: What are you most looking forward to about attending and playing basketball at CM?
Quinn:  I look forward to building relationships with different people and getting a great education. As for playing basketball I look forward to getting the team chemistry on point and bringing a national championship to the city of Auburn.

CM: What do you think you can bring to the team next year?
Quinn: A hard worker that's going to better the people around me and somebody that will do whatever it takes to win.

According to Coach Gonyea, "Quinn brings a different skill set to the table.  His two years of basketball experience should give him an understanding and adaptability to our game in the USCAA.  He has played with some top tier talent which will translate at CM."

Gonyea adds, "He also exemplifies the definition a student athlete."
