Mustangs Dump Wolverines Behind Laurie's Triples

Auburn, ME- After a flat first half and only scoring 25 points, the Mustangs turned it up in the second half to beat Quinsigamond Community College 75-69 Sunday. Trailing at halftime 30-25, and with three starters sitting the game out, the bench stepped up and picked up the slack.

The squad arrived home late last night from a game at Machias and could not get untracked in the first half. Flat, lack of energy, and not focused, were the topics of discussion at halftime. The boys responded in the second half. Shooting 68% from the floor, sharing the ball dishing out 21 assists, and dominating the glass were the difference as the team took a four-point lead at the 8-minute mark and never backed down.

Akeem Laurie played one of his best games of the year hitting for 16 points, recorded 7 rebounds and added 3 assists. Floor general Kionno Nelson played a steady game hitting for 7 points and registered 8 rebounds.

The win moves the team to an 18-8 record. The University of Maine at Machias comes to town tomorrow for the third game in three days for the squad. Tip-off is 8pm. It is senior night so the graduating seniors will be recognized pre-game.
