Yankee Conference Elite 8 Tournament Men's Basketball Preview

Auburn, ME - The Mustangs sit at 19-10 overall, with a 12-2 YSCC record, good enough for the #3 seed in the Yankee Conference Elite 8 Tournament this weekend.  Although they dropped their last 2 games, the Mustangs take on #6 UMaine-Machias today at 8:30pm - a team they beat twice already this month.

On February 4th, the Mustangs traveled to Machias, beating the Clippers, 77-62.  In that game CM played 16 guys, with 10 of them finding the scoring column.  Their depth wore out the Clippers, who out-rebounded the Mustangs by +15.  The February 6th matchup was a closer affair, with CM winning 99-94 in a shootout.  Despite the Clippers shooting over 52% from the floor, the Mustangs were able to win the battle on the boards while shooting over 50% themselves.

If CM wins Friday night they will take on the winner of #2 Southern Maine Community College and #7 UMaine-Augusta.  The Mustangs split with the Seawolves this year, with each team winning the home contest, and beat the Moose twice.
