Mustangs Add Sharpshooter to their Lineup

Auburn, ME – Head Men's Basketball Coach, Dave Gonyea, is pleased to announce the 2017 commitment of Dakota Freeman, a 6'0" sharpshooter from Morse High School in Bath.

According to Coach Gonyea, "Dakota is a nice, respectful, young man who has very good court awareness. His up and down style fits into our system and he can really shoot it!"

"I wish I could say I found a diamond in the rough but the connection comes with Dakota's mother who played high school ball for Coach Tom Morong. On a trip to Vermont this past winter, Coach Morong happened to be with us and for about an hour straight all I heard about was how I needed to see this kid play and how he could help us. After our season, I got to see Dakota in action. Coach Morong was right; I was able to meet him, watch him play, and I knew immediately he would he would be a great addition to our program."

Dakota has an impressive high school resume. He was the captain of his high school squad, averaging 19.1 points his senior year. His accolades include being named to the KCAC All-Conference team and KVAC Class A South Player of the Year.

Asked about his visit to CM Dakota responded: "The college is very inexpensive and has the major I want to pursue. I loved the campus. I think its small enough to make friends and find my way around."

When asked about his strengths, "I am a good perimeter shooter, and like to rebound and play defense. I also think I understand the importance of good ball movement."

Dakota will study Business Administration & Management at the college.
