The Third Aussie Invades Maine in August

Auburn, ME - Freddy Webb, a 6'0" point guard from the Darwin Northern Territory, has become the third Australian young man to commit to CM to play basketball. He follows in the footsteps of Pietro Badalassi and Cam Duncan to make the trek across the ocean. Webb is a heady contributor who brings an impressive basketball resume to CM.

On his visit to the college a few weeks ago, he provided the following information:

Why did you choose CM?
Freddy: The family environment, coach's dedication to his players, and the opportunity to prove yourself.

What did you like about the campus?
Freddy: How close and easy it is to navigate and the availability of the gym and weight room.

How do you think playing college basketball will differ from your previous experience?
Freddy: It will be a lot faster and the talent is better.

What are you most looking forward to about attending CM and playing basketball?
Freddy: Looking forward to making lifelong friends, while winning basketball games and enjoying the moment.

What do you think you can bring to the team next year?
Freddy: Composure, leadership, defense, shooting, and a lot of energy!

Describe your basketball experience.
Freddy: Pure point guard, like to distribute the ball but can shoot it when needed.

What is your biggest strength in basketball?
Freddy: My ability to run a team.

According to CM Men's Coach, Dave Gonyea, "Freddy is a great kid who fit in nicely when he visited a few weeks ago.  By the time he left 3 days later, it was like he had been here the whole time.  He was able to get in the gym and play with the guys.  He held his own and quickly made friends.  Oh course, it doesn't hurt he is following in the footsteps of two fantastic Aussie's before him.  I suspect he will continue the tradition of becoming a positive influence on our team.  We are very excited he is becoming a Mustang!"
