Knights Slay Mustangs in OT 100-93

Auburn, ME – In a back and forth, full court, intense basketball game, CM came out on the short end today falling to the Community College of Rhode Island 100-93 in overtime.  Down by 8 points with 43 seconds left in regulation, the Mustangs created four turnovers and transitioned them into points to tie the score 88-88 at the end of regulation.  However, the Knights hit four consecutive shots in the extra period to seal the victory.

CM managed 14 three's and shared the ball for 17 assists.  Elijah Barbour knocked down 25 points on a 9-20 shooting effort and Akeem Laurie hit for 20 points on a 9-18 shooting night.  Big Josh Chery owned the boards recording 11 rebounds.

Head Coach Dave Gonyea added, "I was very pleased with our effort today.  We didn't give an inch and worked extremely hard on both ends.  CCRI is a quality team who can get after it and they showed it today.  Our shooters came to play- and on the defensive end, although the score would suggest otherwise, made the Knights work for every basket."

CM falls to 12-3 on the season and will travel to Unity College Wednesday night for a 6pm tipoff.
