Chery Named USCAA Basketball Second Team All-American

Uniontown, PA – The United States Collegiate Athletic Association today announced the USCAA basketball coaches have selected Josh Chery, a Central Maine freshman, as a 2017-18 USCAA second team basketball All-American.

Chery, a Weymouth, Mass. native was a main cog in the Mustang attack this year.  He averaged 13 points per game, 8 rebounds per game and shot a solid 58% from the field.  Well-liked by his teammates, Josh was the consummate team player.

Josh follows a long line of proud Mustangs to achieve this award.  According to CM men's coach Dave Gonyea, "Josh is as great a kid off the court as he is on the court.  He is a delight to coach, works hard, is positive with his teammates, and is a role model for our program.  In basketball terms he what all the kids affectionately call "a beast".  He is a tireless worker, relentless rebounder, and makes his teammates better.   He is well deserving of this award.  It is an honor to have him in our program."

Josh is a borderline honor student who is enrolled in the General Studies program at CM.   He intends to return to CM next year to finish out his Associates Degree, and seek an athletic scholarship the following year.
