Mustangs Fall Short on the Road 71-67

Warwick, RI – The first game back from break can be a challenging event, with the squad just coming off from a 3-week layoff and working hard to get their footing.   However, the boys looked in mid-season form after traveling to Warwick to play the Community College of Rhode Island.

Although dropping a 71-67 game, Coach Gonyea was pleased with his team's performance, "I thought we might come out a bit flat but was surprised by our kids focus. We always have great games with CCRI and seeing they were 13-3 coming into the game got my attention. We rebooted from the first half of the season, making some changes in the lineup and it paid off. I liked not only the effort, but the togetherness we displayed tonight."

The visitors jumped out to a 17-10 lead before the Knights came storming back to take a 24-21 lead mid-way through the first half.  Halftime saw the Mustangs down by four points in a back and forth affair.

Tied with 13 seconds left on the clock at 67 apiece, the Mustangs managed to get a great shot but it didn't fall.

Josh Chery played a monster game for CM hitting for 17 points and registered 12 rebounds.  CM falls to 10-4 on the season.
