Mustangs Knock Out Rams 82-68

Auburn, ME – Playing their fourth game in five days, the tired Mustangs struggled a bit in the shooting column but managed to come up with an 82-68 win over stubborn Unity College tonight. Despite a dismal 9-32 long distance shooting night, CM dominated the glass 58-26 to chase down any miss.

Head Men's Basketball Coach, Dave Gonyea added, "We need to get used to playing three games in three days as that is the format at the national tournament. In fact, the Yankee is back-to-back days to get to the finals. Our kids work hard, but I can see some chinks in the armor with fatigue. I understand the kid's situation but we must press on."

The Mustangs took the lead from the game's first play and maintained a small lead through the first half. A 12-2 run propelled the lead to double digits but the Rams climbed back in behind Hunter Engel. CM took a 42-34 lead into halftime.

The second half got a bit interesting as the Rams cut the lead to four points before the Mustangs jumped ahead for good with six minutes left in the game.

Josh Chery again picked up a double double with 20 points and 14 rebounds to be the best player on the court. Cam Duncan ripped down 14 rebounds as well and added 3 assists.

CM takes tomorrow off and travels to Paul Smith College to play the Bobcats in a 12pm game on Friday.
