Knights Shake Mustangs for a 97-76 win

Randolph, VT – Vermont Tech has one of the best players in the Yankee Conference in Jeremiah Shaw.  He proved his worth Saturday shooting 10-16 from the floor, added 6 rebounds and registered 3 assists to lead the Knights to a 97-76 win over the Mustangs.

A long day began for CM at 7am for a five-hour drive to play a hot team who is one of the top teams in the conference.  The Mustangs knew in advance the challenge.  In fact, until the last two minutes of the first half, led the game by as much as seven points.  A 14-3 run by the Knights to close out the half gave the home team a 49-44 lead going into halftime.

CM brought all they had.  Matt Attard kept the squad alive hitting for 20 points on a 7-13 shooting night.  The heart and soul of the team, Malik Farley, ramped up the energy level, defending and rebounding all day, hitting for 15 points, added 5 rebounds and 5 steals.  He had the difficult assignment of trying to guard Shaw, did a great job but simply ran out of gas.

The Knights ran the lead to ten points early in the second half and never looked back.

According to Coach Gonyea, "our kids worked hard but many times not smart.  We are able to compete with anybody for a half, now we need to get the job finished.  Kudo's to Matty who is finding his shot at the right time.  We now move on and look forward to SMCC Wednesday."

CM falls to 16-8 over all and 11-4 in the Yankee Conference.
