Mustangs Win Can-Am Opener

Auburn, ME – The Mustangs faced familiar foe in the University of New Brunswick at St John in game one of the annual Can-am basketball tournament Saturday.   A regular at the tournament, the Seawolves brought their "A" game to the contest.  Although the Mustangs escaped with an 81-57 win, the score doesn't dictate how the game was played.

Tied at halftime 29-29, the visitors continued to pressure the Mustangs for the first six minutes of the second half.  CM played fourteen players seeking combinations and effort that could sustain all game.  It took a bit but the home team got into a grove and took off.  At the thirteen-minute mark, the Mustangs went on a 14-5 run to take a double-digit lead and did not look back.

Boston Caldwell led the Mustangs with 18 points and 4 rebounds.  DeMarco McKissic registered a double double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

CM has a quick turnaround traveling to SMCC Sunday to play the second game in the tournament against Roxbury Community College at 12pm.
