Mustangs Handle Bobcats

Auburn, ME – Seven days of practice without a game paid off for the Mustangs tonight as the squad thrashed visiting Paul Smith's College 97-76 in Kirk Hall.

Hungry, tired of two and three practices a day, and finally playing at home proved to be beneficial to the Mustang shooters.  Shooting 14 for 28 from the arc and 37-71 from inside were too much for the Bobcats to handle. CM jumped out to a 15-8 start behind the hot shooting of Boston Caldwell (7-16, 19 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists) and Wyatt Hathaway (7-14, 21 points, 3 rebounds).  The Bobcats fought back to cut the lead to 24-18 but a 7-0 run by CM jumped the lead to 10 points.  The boys went into halftime with a 48-36 lead.

Led by the floor leadership of Cam Pollock (4-5, 10 points, 8 assists, 3 rebounds) and Jaeden Henderson (3-5, 9 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists), the Mustangs took off early in the second half and built a 20-point lead heading down the stretch. The stubborn Bobcats kept coming back behind the hot shooting of all-conference player Anthony Henson (9-19, 29 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists). However, it wasn't enough and the Mustangs captured the win.

All Mustangs played in the contest with contributions up and down the lineup.  Big DeMarco McKissic dominated the paint hauling down 11 rebounds to go along with his 9 points.

The win moves CM to a 7-1 conference record and 11-3 overall. The Mustangs welcome Great Bay at Kirk Hall on Thursday night in another YSCC conference matchup.
