Bangor Native Opts for CM

Auburn, ME - Bangor High School hockey player, Cameron Burpee, has committed to Central Maine as an incoming freshman this fall. Burpee, a 5'11" winger, played eighteen games this past season for the Rams potting seven goals and seven assists for fourteen points. During four different contests, the right winger scored multiple points; including a three-point performance against Gray New Gloucester helping Bangor to nine wins and two ties in Class A hockey.

Burpee's other on-ice contributions include winning the tier 2 U-18 bronze medal at the USA Hockey Nationals while playing for the 2015-16 Maine Moose. The Moose won the U-18 State of Maine Championship title. Burpee's Maine Moose also won the 2014 Maine State Championship and made an initial U-18 National appearance.

According to Mustangs Head Coach Kevin Cady, "This past spring I coached Cam at the Alliance College and Pre-Draft Showcase. I was impressed with Cam's skill, work ethic, and desire to win. He had an offer to play junior hockey in Canada but opted for Central Maine to begin his quest for a college degree. We expect Cam to be a significant contributor on our hockey club this season."

When asked why he chose Central Maine, Cam remarked, "When visiting the campus, I liked the community and support it provided. The people are very friendly and helpful. I think college hockey will be more challenging but being part of a new program is exciting. I hope to bring my work ethic and hard work to the arena."

Added CM Athletic Director Dave Gonyea, "Cam is a very respectful young man who comes from a supportive family. I think he is looking for a continuation of that family environment where people care about him and his development not only as a hockey player but a young man as well. I am very pleased Cam will be coming to CM!"
