Mustangs Trounce Dartmouth

Auburn, ME - The Central Maine Mustangs won their second game of the season beating Dartmouth College in successive days in ACHA men's hockey action at the Norway Savings Bank Arena. Dartmouth was undermanned and outgunned in the 10am contest gathering just one goal on 34 shots.

CM's Tyler Friel started in goal and made 23 saves in the first and second period.

"This was a game where we wanted to jump early and not allow their skilled guys the chance to gather momentum. Sullivan and LaBrie (2 goals) dampened their spirit and Dartmouth never got in a groove" said Head Men's Ice Hockey Coach, Kevin Cady.

Scoring also for the Mustangs were Cam Burpee, Joshua Noyes, Matt Henderson (2), Charles Campagna, and Dana Fifield-Taylor. CM had balanced scoring from all four lines and looked strong in the defensive end.

"We took a few needless penalties but the PK was solid. We even had some quality scoring chances while shutting down their power play" said Cady after the game.

CM's Joshua Ehiorobo swept-up in the third period in goal making eleven saves and allowed none.

Sam Carey had the lone goal for the Dartmouth Big Green.

CM has scored nineteen goals in three games while giving-up only ten and have two wins and one loss on the season.

The Mustangs lost defenseman Dylan Farrell-Reny in the third to a lower body injury. Coach Cady said, "It is unfortunate, Dylan stepped into the role of a defenseman after playing forward last season in Juniors for the Maine Wild. We are hoping the injury is not serious and he is back with us soon."

The Mustangs are back in action October 28th vs. the University of New England at Norway Savings Bank Arena.
