Wolverines Put Away Mustangs 9-2

Bridgton, ME - The Central Maine Men's Hockey team lost Friday to Bridgton Academy 9-2 in Bridgton.

Both teams were even through the first 25 minutes leaving for the half time break with BA in the lead 2-0. CM Goalie Kenny Miller was particularly sharp making many spectacular saves to keep the game within reach.

The second 25 minutes saw the ice tilt consistently towards BA's favor as the Wolverine's took control with 5 unanswered goals before CM's Sedrick Simons finished on his second consecutive break-away attempt to make the score 7-1. Simons had a strong game, as did Cameron Burpee at both ends of the ice. With Miller replaced late in the second half by goalie Joshua Ehiorobo the BA scoring continued with two more goals. CM's Cameron Burpee tallied late to edge the score 9-2.

Prep schools play two twenty-five minute periods with new ice made in between the first half and the second. "It is an adjustment instead of playing the conventional three twenty minute periods but it certainly wasn't a factor for us" said Head Coach Kevin Cady.

This game was a bit lopsided considering CM beat the Wolverines 4-3 in a shoot-out back on November 11th at the Norway Savings Bank Arena. "We competed with the Wolverines through most of the game. During the final ten minutes we unraveled, perhaps because we haven't played a game in days with a few practices cancelled due to harsh weather; we were just not prepared to play today against this caliber of competition. Bridgton Academy brought their 'A' game today and we give them credit," said Cady.

CM's Evan Sullivan was hospitalized briefly after the game with an upper body injury. Cade Chapman was tagged with a major penalty and game misconduct during the first half.

Central Maine moves to 10 wins with 6 losses while scoring 87 goals, 130 assists, and averaging 8.0 goals per game on the season.
