Mustangs Secure Blue Line Help

Auburn, ME - Mustangs Ice Hockey Head Coach, Matt Buotte, is excited to announce another commitment for the 2018-2019 season with another local star joining the fold. Shawn Sullivan, a former Gorham High School standout, will don the red and black when the Mustangs hit the ice this fall.

After an illustrious high school career which saw Sullivan receive first team all-conference honors his senior season, Sullivan would head to Laconia, NH to continue his playing career for the New England Wolves where he was selected to the EHL's all-star team. From there the 6'1" defenseman would head to Massachusetts to patrol the blue line for the South Shore Kings in Foxboro. Sullivan posted 4 goals and 13 assists in 41 games in his most recent season in the USPHL.

"Shawn brings a lot of intangibles," said Mustangs coach Matt Buotte. "He is a big, strong kid. He's a professional--he's been very well-respected everywhere he's been. I think his game speaks for itself...he skates well and can play both sides of the puck very effectively. The intangibles are an added bonus."

Sullivan feels he can use his experience to help a young Mustangs team take strides forward in 2018-2019.

"I can use my experience at both ends of the ice," Sullivan said. "I hope to bring leadership on and off the ice and help my teammates in any way I can."

Sullivan, who will be studying electromechanical technology, added that he is excited to be able to continue his hockey career so close to home.

"I chose CM because I can receive a great education close to home while continuing my hockey career," added Sullivan. "I'm really excited to get started."
