Mustangs Announce 4th Annual Prospect Skate Day

Auburn, ME – The Central Maine Community College hockey team has announced it will run its 4th annual Prospect Skate on Sunday, August 4th. The skate will take place at the clubs home rink, Norway Savings Bank Arena, and will run from 4:50-6:20 p.m. The event will be followed by a cookout at athletic director Dave Gonyea's house.

Any players with an interest in playing for the Mustangs are encouraged to participate. Most of the local returning players and incoming recruits are slated to attend, giving the community the first look at what the 2019-20 Mustangs are shaping up to be.

"It's going to be a great day to get back on the ice," said Mustangs head coach Matt Buotte, who is entering his second year with the program. "It's going to be great to see the guys again and it'll be fun to see a lot of the new guys together for the first time. It'll be a great event."

The skate has been successful over the past three incarnations, with the players shaking off the summer rust in a few drills before a controlled scrimmage.

"It will be pretty low-key, just a good chance for guys to beat the cobwebs off and get on the ice," said Buotte. "I'm really looking forward to it. It will be great to start thinking about hockey again."

The event is free to all players looking to attend. Any players interested in attending—or who have any questions—should contact Coach Buotte at mbuotte@cmcc.edu or at 207-776-5551.
