Mustangs Slapped by Coast Guard 7-2

New London, CT - Trevor Roche and Shawn Sullivan power play goals were the lone bright spot for the Central Maine Community College hockey team on Sunday as they fell to the Coast Guard Academy by a 7-2 count at Dayton Arena.

The Mustangs would fall behind 3-0 early after a sluggish start proved a harbinger for a long afternoon. Roche would add the team's first power play goal late in the first before the hosts exploded in the second and held a commanding 7-1 lead through two periods of play.

"It was pretty disappointing," said Mustangs head coach Matt Buotte. "They were a good club but so are we. We did ourselves no justice. We drove a long way to play with that little enthusiasm. Our fans deserve better, our school deserves better, and we owe it to ourselves to regroup after the break and put our best foot forward."

The team will be idle for a week leading into the Thanksgiving holiday and will return to action on Sunday, December 1st when they travel to Orono to face the University of Maine Black Bears. Puck drops at Alfond Arena at 2:30.
