CM spring soccer action

The men's soccer team closed out the academic year with an awards banquet and three spring matches. On April 25th the Mustangs played Saint Joseph's College and the University of Maine Farmington in a spring round robin tournament. St. Joes bested UMF with a 4-2 victory in the first match of the day. The second match pitted CM against Saint Joseph's College. After giving up a goal late in the first half the second half saw returning Mustang goalkeeper Dustin Sullivan (Richmond, ME) made five critical saves to keep the game within reach. Incoming freshman Abdikarim Hussein (Lewiston, ME) then scored late in the match to tie the game. After a quick ten minute break the round robin continued with CM running out of steam and falling 4-0 to UMF in the second game. After the matches Coach Wallace addressed the team saying, "It was obvious our fitness and team chemistry wasn't as good as it needs to be. In the second game we got worn down and UMF earned two goals on us in the last 10 minutes. Two games in a morning is a lot of soccer but overall I'm pretty happy with how well we played and more importantly how we conducted ourselves once the second match got away from us. The guys showed good character and kept their chins up."
