Men's Soccer Falls in Season Finale

South Portland, ME - CM travelled to South Portland to face SMCC at the Wainwright Sports Complex Wednesday afternoon.  The Mustangs came to play and for the first 20 minutes dominated the match. After that the game evened out but the game remained scoreless through the first half.  The second half had opportunities for either team to pull ahead but it was a trip in the box that led to a penalty kick that gave the Seawolves the advantage they needed and Brandon Ford capitalized. CM's Fiston Mubalama (Lewiston, ME) had a great opportunity that seemed to beat the SMCC goalkeeper with just 15 minutes remaining. However the celebration was short lived went the assistant referee couldn't confirm if the ball went directly in, or if it passed through the outside netting so no goal was awarded.

Zachary Lowe (Mechanic Falls, ME) had twelve saves for CM while Drew Martin had six for SMCC.

Mustang defensive player, Derek Gosselin (Leeds, ME) and midfielders Keeshawn Ferreira (New Sharon, ME) and Zachary Johnson (Greene, ME) played extremely well.

After the game Coach Wallace said, "I'm pleased with how well we played today. Losing an away game 1-0, on a penalty kick after holding off one of the best teams in the conference for 70 minutes with two substitutions is something these guys need to take pride in. They really gave it their all today and made our program and the college proud. SMCC has a great group of players and we wish them well heading into the playoffs."
