Mustang Soccer Alum Come Home

Auburn, ME - On Wednesday evening fifteen veterans of previous men's soccer team's returned to campus in support of the 2018 CM team.

The 2018 Mustangs have a deep pool to pull from with 21 rostered players this season.

The alumni team was made up of players from as far back as the 2008 season and had some great individual talent. The alumni were quick to set a tone and about 15 minutes in current CM student, and 2017 midfielder, Evan Blanchard put the alumni up 1-0 when he found the back of the net with a well-placed hard shot. The current team dug in and moments later when freshman Seth Peaslee ran onto a forward pass out of the midfield to beat Jacoby Robinson in goal for the alumni. Eight minutes later freshman Moulid Hussein lifted a ball over Robinson to put the 2018 team on top. But the alumni weren't done and Blanchard collected a ball from CMCC sophomore goalkeeper Dalton Wing and put the game even 2-2 just before halftime. The second half saw opportunities from both teams but CM started to out possess the alumni.  Junior CM player Sam Storer scored the winning goal when he volleyed his own rebound from a free-kick to put the current team up 3-2.

Before the game Head Men's Soccer Coach, Bryan Wallace said, "This is my favorite day of the year. It means so much to have this family, and the loyalty of the returning players. These guys are excited to welcome this year's team and give back to the program. For our current team, this day allows us to make some corrections and identify some things to focus on in training, before we face a conference opponent."

The Mustangs travel Saturday to face conference opponent University of Maine Machias at 1pm.
