Men's Soccer takes season opener over Machias

Machias, ME - The Mustangs traveled to University of Maine Machias for their first match, and first conference match of the 2018 season. The Mustangs started slow and it seemed as though the Clippers had got on the scoreboard early when they put a ball in the back of the net before the linesmen confirmed an offside call and the goal was disallowed. Once CMCC settled in and possessed the ball things started to go their way.

Kenneth Ball slotted a ball through to a sprinting freshman Brian Mendez who beat Clipper's keeper Dominic Kane. The score at halftime was 1-0 in favor of CMCC. Mendez wasn't done and 10 minutes into the second half Seth Peaslee provided him with a nice pass which he finished for his second goal of the day. Mendez later provided freshman Joel Masikini with a nice pass and after getting passed a defender Masikini finished, giving CMCC a 3-0 victory. Sophomore goalkeeper Dalton Wing had 2 saves on 4 Machias shots.

After the game Assistant Coach, Brandon Morissette said, "There were some real good take-aways from our performance today. It's great to get a little success and identify areas that need improvement. Our defensive players, Alinoor Deqow, and Adolphe Bouanga were outstanding today… but we need to play a little quicker in the offensive third of the field."

Men's Soccer will be back in action next Saturday, September 8th when they travel to Randolph, VT to take on the Knights of Vermont Technical College.
