Mustangs Continue Winning Ways

Concord, NH - The CM men's soccer team continued their conference form with an away win at NHTI. Playing their first game of the season on grass didn't hinder the Mustangs. CM maintained most of the possession, with NHTI Lynx looking to play on the counter attack. The first goal came with 35:45 on the clock. Abdirahman Daud crossed a free kick from the right which fell to Abdifatah Yussuf. Abdifatah hit a hard shot past the goalkeeper to give the Mustangs the go ahead goal. The second goal followed shortly after. Some one and two touch play through the center of the field found Sasha Bruno wide on the right. His hard low cross to the back post was finished by Abdiraqib Yussuf for his first goal of the season.  NHTI continued to create opportunities off of corners and free kicks but the Mustang defense of Nyagasaza, Lubota, Attwood, Abdillahi, and Yussuf stood firm until the half. The second half began with CM again maintaining the majority of possession. However it was the Lynx who scored first, as they capitalized on a corner kick. Albert Busimba finishing off of a deep corner to the back post to make the game 2-1. The goal invigorated NHTI and CM had to withstand some pressure before res establishing their 2 goal lead. With 58:38 on the clock in the second half Ivan Domingues fed the ball to Sasha Bruno in the box  who rounded a defender before finishing to the right of the goal. Despite CMs lead,  NHTI continued to press forward with Nyagasaza being called into action on several occasions.  The game ended 3-1 in favor of the Mustangs who moved to 4-0-1 in conference play and 7-1-2 for the season. With the loss the Lynx fell to 2-3-1 in conference and 3-7-3 for the season. The Mustangs return to action this Thursday as they travel to SMCC for their penultimate game of the regular season.
