Concord, NH - For the 3rd time this season CMCC men's soccer faced off against local rival SMCC in the YSCC semifinal. Once more the Mustangs would come out victors. This time in a goal filled thrilling 7-5 victory.
With less than a minute on the clock SMCC capitalized on a miskick in the CMCC backline as Alberto Kissaka latched on to the loose ball and fired a low shot past Arnaud Nyagasaza
With the clock reading 4:56 Abdiftah Yussuf played a pass beyond the Seawolves defense for Ivan Domigues to finish with his left foot pass the outrushing GK Ian Allen.
SMCC would retake the lead (2-1) as Laszlo Dorogi fired a direct free kick from the left side of the box, despite Nyagasaza getting hands to the ball it found the roof of the net. Domingues continued to create opportunities for his team as his dribble deep in the SMCC box drew a handball. Abdiftah Yussuf leveled the game (2-2) from the spot with 14:49 on the clock.
Once more Domingues latched on to a through ball by brother Isidoro. Domingues drew a foul from the outrushing goalkeeper. Abdifatah stepped up again and dispatched the penalty kick to give CMCC the lead 3-2 on 16:10.
The Mustangs would take a 2 goal (4-2) lead with 3 mins left in the half. Romano Bassa picked the ball up on the right wing, driving towards goal before passing to the supporting Abdirahman Daud. Daud cut the ball back onto his favored right foot before shooting hard and low to the left of the SMCC goalkeeper. With the half time whistle approaching SMCC were handed a lifeline as they were handed the opportunity from the penalty spot. With Dorogi's goal CMCC entered half time with a one goal lead 4-3.
Dorogi completed his hat-trick for SMCC to bring the sides level at 4-4. A cross off of a dribble was finished from close range by Dorogi with 61:20 on the clock. Ivan Domingues would get on score sheet once more with the clock reading 66:27. Jacob Attwood played a forward pass over the head of the SMCC CB for Ivan Domingues to control. Domingues still had a lot to do beating 2 defenders before firing a hard low shot to the right of the dive of Allen. Bringing the score 5-4 in the favor of the Mustangs
Domingues completed his hat-trick in the 83rd minute. Yussuf closed down the ball in midfield, with the ricocheting ball falling to Ivans feet who quickly shot past the outrushing keeper, making the score now 6-4.
Domingues would turn provider as he fed Romano Bassa. Bassa cut the ball back creating space for a low shot that found the bottom of the SMCC goal. Bassa's goal gave the Mustangs a 7-4 lead.
There was enough time for one more goal as SMCC Alberto Kissaka would score his second deep into injury time.
A 7-5 win for the Mustangs means the return to 10/3/22 as they take on Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Science in YSCC Championship final.
