Softball sweeps Northern Essex

Lawrence, MA - The Mustangs of Central Maine Softball team took care of business in a non-conference double-header sweep of Northern Essex Community College (NECC) on Sunday, April 22.

Game 1

Sophomore Olivia York (Bethel, ME) got the start  in a two-hit 4K shutout performance in route to a Mustang win.

The Mustangs slugged 14 hits and three walks to set the pace for the Mustangs. Alex Bessey (Jay, ME) went 2-4 with a single and a triple with two RBI's. She also added two stolen bases. York joined Bessey going 2-4 with a single, a triple and three RBI's. Ali Sult (Lisbon, ME) as well went 2-4 with two doubles and two RBI's. Abby Fogg (Buckfield ,ME) would not be out done going 3-4 and adding an RBI herself.

The Mustangs scored four in the first inning, two in the second, four more in the third while adding one in the seventh to finish the contest in five innings.

Game 2

York again got the nod for the Mustangs. York tossed her fifth complete game of the season while allowing only four hits and one walk, while collecting five strikeouts to get her fourth win of the season.

The Mustangs offense stayed hot from game one collecting more 18 hits. The Mustangs score four in the first and two in the second, four in the third and one more in the fifth inning. Mustangs batters with multiple hits to help the Mustangs to a five-inning victory. Sult 2-4  Fogg 2-4 Bessey 3-4, York 3-4 and Hayley Peterson (Bethel, ME) 4-4.

The Mustangs improve to 4-6 overall on the season. Next up the Mustangs travel to SMCC to play a YSCC double-header on Wednesday, April 25 beginning at 3 p.m.
