Mustangs swept by Seawolves

Game 1

Monday was a long day for the Mustangs, falling to Southern Maine Community College 13-1.

The Mustangs struck first scoring a run in the second inning. SM then scored 3 in the third. The Mustangs struggled in the field creating five errors allowing SM to score nine runs in the fourth inning.

Kristen Mackenzie of SM was credited with the victory for Southern Maine Community College. She surrendered one run on five hits over five innings, striking out five.

Cagney O'Brien (Boothbay Harbor, ME) took the loss for the Mustangs. She lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and four runs.

Olivia York (Bethel, ME) started the game for the Mustangs. She surrendered nine runs on 11 hits over three and a third innings, striking out four and walking zero.

York led CM with two hits in three at bats.

 

Game 2

Monday's game two against Southern Maine Community College was a heartbreaker for the Mustangs, as they lost the lead late in an 11-1 defeat. The game was tied at one with Southern Maine Community College batting in the top of the fourth when an error scored one run for the Seawolves.

The Mustangs struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively (five errors) containing Southern Maine Community College, giving up 11 runs. CM opened up scoring in the first inning, when Ali Sult (Lisbon, ME) singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, but Southern Maine Community College knotted the game up at one in the top of the third inning. Kahli Philibotte singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

Olivia York (Bethel, ME) started the game for the Mustangs. She allowed seven hits and 11 runs over five innings, striking out three.

Mackenzie Abbott (Boothbay Harbor, ME), Alex Bessey (Jay, ME), and Sult all had one hit to lead the Mustangs.

The Mustangs finish 4-8 overall on the season. Next up the Mustangs is the YSCC Tournament hosted by Great Bay Community College on Saturday May 5, 2018.
