Visiting Mustangs Swept Away in a Wind Blown Affair

SOUTH PORTLAND, ME-  On a cold, windy Tuesday afternoon,  the Mustangs traveled to play the Seawolves of SMCC.  The weather was a factor leading to multiple errors as the SeaWolves capitilized dropping the Mustangs in a double header sweep.

Game 1: L, 10-1 (5 innings)

Megan Theriault (Lewiston, Maine) started in the circle in an effort to keep SMCC at bay. Therieualt  was taxed the loss but pitched solid in her effort. Striking out two and only allowing six Earned Runs, Theriault tried to keep the Mustangs in the game but six fielding errors allowed the Seawolves to bust the game open.

Theriault tried to help her cause at the plate collecting an RBI on a double in the first and Stephanie Jones (Westport, Island) colleted a double as well in the fourth.

Game 2: L, 15-3 (5 innings)

Coach Robertson turned back to Megan Theriault (Lewiston, ME) to start in game two. Theriault again started strong but went only 3 innings. All fifteen runs were on Theriaults watch but she only allowed two earned runs due to the Mustangs committing numerous errors allowing SM to pull away for another victory.

The Mustangs got a run in the first inning when Alex Bessey (Jay, ME) cracked a double into left field followed by Tabie Tlumac (Reidfield, ME)  single to right--this allowed Ali Sult (Lisbon, Me) to collect an RBI with a hit in left scoring Bessey.

The Mustangs did collect eight hits on the loss with Bessey, Tlumac and Sult each collecting two while Theriault and Jones each collected one.

The Mustangs next game is back at SMCC on Tuesday April 23 for double header action. The games begins at 3:30 and 5:30.
