Softball drops pair in non-conference double-header

Concord, NH - The CM Mustangs Softball team traveled to Concord, NH to battle Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) and the Lynx of NHTI in a non-conference battle on Sunday.

Game 1: CCRI L, 12-4 (5 innings)

Megan Theriault (Lewiston, ME) got the started in the circle for the Mustangs in game 1 of round robin double-header vs CCRI. Therriault started strong striking out 3 batters in the first inning and keeping the game in check till the third inning when CCRI opened up the game with a five run inning. Theriault finished the game with seven strikeouts, six walks and giving up 10 hits.

The Mustangs racked up 8 hits for the game Ali Sult (Lisbon, ME) and Alex Bessey (Jay, ME) each had 2 hits while Bessey added 2 RBI's and Sult added 1. While Cagney O'Brien (Newcastle, ME), Tabie Tlumac (Readfield, ME), Sierra Wallace (Phippsburg, ME), and Samantha Belardo (Russell, MA) each recorded a hit. The Mustangs stranded 7 on base.

Game 2: NHTI L, 14-5 (5 innings)

Coach Robertson again went to Theriault to start game two. Theriault started strong but ran out of gas after two innings striking out 1 and walking 1. Robertson then turned to Cagney O' Brien in the third to finish the game. The Lynx collected 14 hits on the two pitchers.

The Mustangs had another seven hits in the loss with Bessey and Theriault each recording two hits, while Tlumac, Stephanie Jones (Wiscasset, ME), and Wallace each collecting a hit. Wallace and Theriault each recorded an RBI while Tlumac added 2 RBI's

The Mustangs of Central Maine (2-12) next game is Monday, April 29th, at University of New England Club for double-header with action starting at 4pm and 6pm.
