Auburn, ME - Head Softball Coach, Bruce Robertson, is excited to announce the commitment of one of their top recruits for the upcoming Season, Abby Ferland of Monmouth Academy.
Ferland stated, "When touring CM, I felt the school checked every box I wanted to fill when looking for a college, it offers me a great education at an affordable cost. The size of the school is perfect for me. Smaller but large feel while offing the sport I love. The class sizes are appealing to me and the school is very diverse while offering welcoming students and staff."
She added, "This is the next level for me. I am ready to build a new bond and relationships with my new teammates and coaches. I am up for the challenge as I know the commitment and expectations that it takes to be on the next level. I look forward to starting my future endeavors of college while extending my softball career. I will bring 100% everyday and a positive attitude while being supportive of my new teammates."
Monmouth Academy Coach, Dave Kaplan, commented, "Abby has been one of the top catchers in the MVC for the past 3 years. She is a two-year Captain who controls the tempo of the game and the other teams running game from behind the plate. Abby batted .300 and 11 RBI. She will be a great fit for the Mustangs as she has stepped up her game and leadership while being a high-quality player."
Coach Robertson commented, "Abby coming to CM is that impact player that every team is looking for. Abby has a lot to offer our program. Not only is she an incredible catcher she is also an A+ teammate. Abby will fit in nicely with our pitching staff as we have assembled some great talent for the circle. Now we are able to compliment that with a quality catcher behind the plate who is a pitcher's dream. With our new turf facility being ready for fall 2019 we are bringing in a large recruiting class while we are looking to make the Mustangs one of the top teams in the YSCC."
Ferland, who is graduating Summa Com Laude, has served as her Class President for the last two years, and has earned High Honors and National Honor Society while at Monmouth Academy.
A four-year starting Catcher a two-year Captain and 2nd team MVC in 2018. Abby and will be enrolled in the Life Sciences program at CM.
