Softball lands first international recruit

Auburn, ME – Head Softball Coach, Bruce Robertson, is pleased to announce the commitment of their first recruit for 2020 Season, Olivia Scott of Quispamsis, New Brunswick, Canada.

After visiting CM Olivia stated, "I chose CM because the size of the school and the programs it offers. I liked how everything was close and how everyone made me feel welcome. I was impressed with the softball program and team and I love the turf facility."

Kennebecasis Valley Head Coach, Rob Scott, commented, "I have coached Olivia for 4 years now both in her summer club team and for the high school team.  She is a great teammate, shows up early works hard and is smiling while she does it.  As a pitcher she takes the ball in all situations and does not seem to get nervous.  She rises to the occasion, the bigger the game the better she pitches.  She is not flashy, doesn't fist pump or cheer when she strikes out people never seems to get too excited, but make no mistake she has a competitive side.  In the last two years of High School softball in the finals she has not allowed a run in 12 innings pitched.  And in this past year she hit a triple and scored our only run to win 1 to 0. I will be sad to see her go but I know the Mustangs will be lucky to have her."

According to Coach Robertson, "We are Excited to have Olivia coming to CM.  After attending a clinic in Canada this past summer and watching Olivia, we knew she would be a good fit for us. She is a solid pitcher with a good bat. Liv really takes command in the circle and it shows. In the 2019 Provincial Championship Game she threw a 3-hit 1-0 shutout to help lead her team to the victory. When we first talked back in the summer, we could tell that with her team first attitude and how she carried herself she was exactly what we look for from players in our program."

Scott added, "Softball wise I feel college softball will be that next step in my softball career. I feel pitchers will be faster and better and it will help me focus more on improving my game to the next level on the field and in the gym.  I am very excited to meet and play with new players while playing on a very competitive team. I feel what I can add to the team is a great attitude, someone who works very hard and as a pitcher someone who is going to be reliable and calm under pressure."

Olivia will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Program at CM.
