Softball adds to 2020 recruiting class

Auburn, ME – Head Softball Coach, Bruce Robertson, pleased to announce the signing of their second commitment for the 2020 Season, Hailey Caswell (Alfred, ME), from Massabesic High School.

After touring CM Caswell stated, "I chose CM not just because of the campus itself and the programs they offer; but also because of the amazing people that I got to meet that completely welcomed me onto the campus with open arms. The students that I got the opportunity to talk to about the school and what to expect going into my freshman year of college. My favorite part about the campus was the Early Childhood Education program that I got to see, considering that is what I will be majoring in and will be spending most of my time there. I also really enjoyed getting the chance to practice with the Mustang softball players on the new turf field.

She continued, "What I'm really looking forward too is making new connections and relationships within my community and having the chance to expand my learning in working with children and build a career for myself. Students learn from teachers, but teachers learn from their students as well. I have grown up playing softball; it is what I love doing the most! However, to me it is not just a sport; it is a vice, it is a way to learn new techniques, meet new people, to me it's a life style. How I treat my body to stay in shape for this sport. I have played travel ball but there is always more that I can learn. Playing for Coach Bruce and with the girls is going to give me more challenges, which means I get to learn more about this sport and find new ways to make myself better and grow with my team. What I am hoping to bring to the team next year, is a hard-working player that will not give up."

Massabesic Head Softball Coach, Kevin Tutt, commented, "Hailey is very versatile as an infielder. I was able to use her at third and second depending on matchups within the season. She has a great feel of the game and a great softball IQ. I have watched her at all levels of play (Little League, School ball, and Travel Ball), and she can fully take over as the communicator within the game. Her junior year Hailey had a .440 on base percentage, .609 Slugging percentage, and had a batting average of .435.

Coach Robertson added, "We are very pleased that Hailey has decided to come to CM. After watching Hailey play this past summer, I knew she would be a good fit with us. Hailey has a good bat and is not afraid to get dirty and stop the ball at all costs. Hailey brings the 'I'll do whatever it takes' mentality as well as a tremendous knowledge of the game. Hailey has been playing high school, summer ball and even competed in Italy a couple years back. She has the never give up attitude which makes her a perfect fit as a Mustang."
