The Lady Mustangs opened up the 2013-14 season with a huge win over the Seawolves of the University of New Brunswick - St. John. CM jumped out to an early lead, which they would never surrender, but the Seawolves scrapped and kept the game close throughout the first half. Gabby Foy and Jaime Swart hit two 3's a piece in the first half to open up a double digit lead at halftime.
CM cranked up the pressure defense to balloon the lead up to 20 just two minutes into the second half. Consecutive steals by Susie French, Hannah Champagne, and Samantha Bruce started a 10-0 run that put the game out of reach.
French led the Lady Mustangs with 23 points (8-12 FG) including five 3's. Bruce, who came off the bench, tallied 14 points & Swart finished with 9 points (three 3's). Foy scored all of her 10 points in the first half.
Maggie McConkey played a great all-around game fininishing with 4 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and only 1 turnover.
The Mustangs are back in action tomorrow when they host Thomas College (NCAA DIII) in an exhibition game.
