Former Mustang, Maggie Sabine, Inducted into CM Athletics Hall of Fame

Maggie Sabine (Litchfield, ME) was inducted into the CM Athletics Hall of Fame Friday night, becoming only the 3rd female-athlete in school history to be enshrined.

Sabine played at CM for the 2nd half of the 2011-12 season and all of the 12-13 season, and in that short time, left a lasting impression on the women's basketball program.  During Sabine's time at CM, the women's basketball program went 32-9 overall, including an astounding 23-1 vs. YSCC competition.  Back-to-back conference tournament championships, one regular season conference championship, and two trips to the USCAA National Tournament later, and you have the making of a storybook career.

In the history of the women's basketball program, Sabine ranks 6th in career scoring average (16.5) and her 455 points last season rank her 5th in total points in a single season.  Over her 1.5 season span at CM, Sabine was recognized as a USCAA Division-II First Team All-American, a 2-time YSCC Tournament Most Valuable Player, and an YSCC All-Star.

According to CM Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, "Maggie is very special to me and our entire program, not because of all of the accolades, but because of her development off the court.  Watching her mature and push herself out of her comfort zone is exactly what we hope everyone does during their time here.  She set a bar that we hope others try to achieve, all while helping build on the success and tradition that has been synonymous with this program for well over a decade."

Shannon Kynoch, head coach at NCAA Division II, St. Michael's College (Colchester, VT), offered Maggie Sabine a full scholarship shortly after the 2012-13 season ended.  Maggie is currently competing for the Purple Knights, who play in the tough NE-10 Conference, and recently made her first career start in an exhibition game vs. the University of Vermont.
